Common mistakes after insulation of blocks of flats

Revitalization of blocks of flats built (constructed typically in the eastern Europe in the second half of the last century) is currently a hot topic. The most common methods to achieve energy savings include the facade insulation or old windows exchange. These measures lead to a reduction of the heat transfer coefficient of the building envelope, thus heat conservation in the building. After this change in construction of the building, the management of the thermal system of the building is necessary to be adapted, since the building does not need as much energy as before the envelope renovation anymore.

In the case of no adjustment of the building heating system, energy savings promised in the project will not be very likely achieved. Savings can be even a third times smaller than calculated and, moreover, it appears that one year after the insulation, the thermal energy consumption rise again due to increased domestic ventilation.
