MPC control of LBM office building

Realization: autumn 2013

The original building of a steam power plant from the 19th century was renovated in 2004 into a modern office building. Hand in hand with that the renovation of the installed heating system was performed as well as a modern, energy efficient heating control - predictive control was deployed subsequently. After the sensors placement inside the building and on its heating systém, the model of building's thermal dynamics was created and consequently used for predictive control of the internal comfort in order to customers' requirements. During the autumn 2013, the new heating system started up successfully and during the first heating season, it led to 23% savings in heating energy compared to the originally used control strategy.
